Malibu House

The Malibu House is designed as a free standing sculpture which imitates in shape and position on top of a promontory the surrounding rocks and boulders at the building site.
By the polygonal shape the house reacts to the surrounding mountainous Malibu landscape and gives view opportunities to all directions.  The covered pool deck on the main floor overviews the Pacific Ocean, the Terrace on the upper level allows views towards the terrific site and the Santa Monica Mountains and finally the roof deck allows 360ยบ views overlooking Malibu.
By creating roof overhangs and recessed windows to the south, east and west the design provides a passive solar design approach.  The overall building materials are concrete and stone.
This 16,000 sf private residence is currently under review within Los Angeles County.
