Monte Nido House
The Monte Nido house is designed on a steep one acre lot in the Monte Nido area in Malibu, bordering National Park Land. The client requested his house to be built out of rammed earth and concrete in order to withstand potential wild fires. The house is also designed as a passive solar house. The house design follows the natural contours of the site in order to minimize the environmental impact.
The rammed earth and concrete aggregate will be generated out of onsite dirt as the main building material. The rammed earth walls will determine the color of the building with the intention to blend in with the surrounding context.
This 3,500 sf single family residence is situated in the Coastal Zone in Malibu and is currently under review within the Los Angeles County agencies.
